About this blog

This blog is not for everyone.

It does not appeal to the lowest common denominator.  This blog is for growing Christians and mature thinkers who are more interested in truth than dogma and ideology.  It is for people who are more interested in growth than comfort. It is for people who want to go deeper. It is for people who want to objectively examine what they believe.

This blog is for people who are not afraid of being wrong.

There are hundreds of blogs out there that will present an emotion-based appeal to Christianity (too many in fact).  This is not one of those blogs.

You won’t find a “word for today” here.  No motivational speeches, no baseless reassurances, no hollow “Christian-ese” phrases that sound holy and profound, but mean nothing in the real world.

What you will find here is the pursuit of real answers.  You will NEVER be told to “just believe”.  You will never be asked to take something on blind faith.   Nothing will be considered “unknowable”.  You will not hear any pious sounding but intellectually lazy phrases such as “where God is silent, we must be silent”, or “there are just some things we were never meant to know”, or “God is a mystery”.

I believe that God WANTS to be known.  He gave us a “heart” so that we could feel, but He also gave us a mind so that we could think.   God makes it clear that He appeals to us though our minds. God does not ask us to feel Him, He wants us to choose Him.  Choice is a decision.  It has to be made by the mind.

This blog caters to Christians with intellectual curiosity – a grossly underserved and tragically small group of people.

This blog does not tell you what to believe as much as it tells you WHY you should believe.

This blog doesn’t show, it proves.

This blog doesn’t just give doctrine, it tells you why doctrine makes sense

This blog doesn’t “say”, it explains.

This blog isn’t based on dogma, its based on logic.

This blog will challenge you.

This blog will make you uncomfortable.

This blog is not for everyone.   I hope it’s for you.

Ed i want to personally thank you for this blog. I started reading it one day last week and didn’t stop until i was finished.

A lot of what you talked about i already agreed with and understood to some degree. But you added more to it and made me fully understand it in ways that are just, perfect. The way you handle this blog i believe is the way every believer should handle themselves. You answer everything and give the reason. I look forward to many more post on this excellent blog of yours.

    Well Done,
    Scott

Ed, this blog sounds like an invitation to being real and comfortable with doubt and skepticism. I like this. It seems we have a similar view on Christianity and religion in general. I have learned to welcome questions and doubt as a way to grow spiritually. I will continue to read your blog which interests me a lot. Feel welcome to visit mine as well. Take care.

      Hi Noel,
Thanks for the comments. I ABSOLUTELY welcome doubt and skepticism. As you can probably tell, I’m big on contrastive thinking. The only way to be right is to replace your incorrect thoughts and beliefs with correct ones. That requires you to try to prove them wrong. The only way to do that is to question everything you know, learn, and believe. This takes humility because none of us likes to think that we are wrong. Religious people tell you the opposite. They tell you NOT to question them or God. So they are actually telling you not to be righteous! I encourage readers to challenge me and prove me wrong. If it turns out that I’m right, they will gain knowledge and become more right. If I’m proven wrong, I will gain the knowledge and righteousness. That is the only way to have a profitable discussion. I hope you will keep reading and feel free to comment.

I just listened to the Tin Foil Hat podcast you were recently on, and you mentioned that Golgotha is in the Garden of Eden area. It’s ironic to me that Skull Hill is adjacent to the Garden Tomb area… I never made the connection that ‘Garden’ refers to the Garden of Eden! Now that I think about it, that makes perfect sense… the real Tomb of the most important/famous person to have ever lived should naturally be in the most famous Garden in all of history! I think you are exactly correct!

New reader here. I heard your interview with Brad on The Awakened Podcast.
Sorry, side note… I get Deja Reve a lot, especially lately, and it happened to me just now while I was writing this. I don’t know if that’s important or not.
Anyway, I enjoyed hearing you speak and look forward to hearing more. God bless!

I am so happy to have found you! I discovered you through the Tin Foil Hat podcast and have since been going through your Revelation series on YouTube, and am now diving into your blog. This is absolutely for me! I am an intellectual, yet fairly new, Christian. I was born again in Christ last May after being raised Christian, but turning away from it in my late teens and early 20s because of the blind faith it seemed to require. Since being born again, the Lord has guided me to you and others like you so that I can truly know Him and continually choose him. Thank you so much for the information you share.

Thank you so much! I usually use the NKJV or the ASV. What’s FAR more important than the translation is that you have access to a source that gives you the meaning of each word in the original language. I recomned Blue Letter Bible blueletterbible.com and use their interlinear tool
